That stare. The Eastwood glare. There are few American male faces as recognizable as his. A cult hero in the ’60s and major box-office star in the ’70s and ’80s, Eastwood had a third act as a marquee director. His craftsmanship as a storyteller perhaps even surpassed his appeal as the last great star of the American Western.
